Skype-compatible Wifi Handset

According to Wireless Watch Japan, Taiwan-based Accton Technology unveiled its Skype-enabled Wi-Fi phone, the SkyFone WM1185-T, in Tokyo at a so-called “Skype Day” event.

According to WWJ’s sources, the new phone [.jpg] enables a talk time of up to four hours with a stand-by-time of up to 20 hours and is likely to be initially priced at over US$150 in the retail market.

Most Skype-compatible products released to date have required use of a computer running Skype in order to interface to the Skype network. This appears to be the first product that is expected to interoperate with the Skype network directly.
