This is Wonderland – NOT!

Someone involved with the production of This is Wonderland, a legal show being played on CBC at 8 pm on Wednesdays has decided it might boost ratings to send a spam email to lawyers. The email had a fake sender name of “; on behalf of;” and included a huge 300k plus jpg. If I was the Globe and Mail, I’d be pretty upset about spammers trying to fraudulently represent that an email was coming from them. On the other hand, the email headers indicated that it came from a Globe and Mail server, so maybe it was a Globe and Mail employee who sent it out and tried to disguise it as a GMAIL source.

Their website includes a copyright notice “by Indian Grove Productions Ltd. and Muse Entertainment Enterprises”. Well which is it?

There’s also a privacy policy but it is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Perhaps they should hire a legal consultant for their website before purporting to produce a credible series about lawyers.

The message in the email states: Tell your clients. They might learn something. Maybe the show producers should hire an Internet consultant. They might learn something about Netiquette.

P.S. for the sake of completeness, the following was part of the header. Some I’m relatively confident it originated at the Globe & Mail newspaper or the G&M email system has an open proxy that’s been compromised.
